28 March – 01 April 2022 – Participation in MILITARY STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP CONFERENCE (MSPC), Dublin
Crisis Management and Multinational Operations Department (CMMOD) representatives participated in MILITARY STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP CONFERENCE (MSPC), Dublin from March 28th to April 1st, 2022.
The conference brought together participants from more than 40 countries, providing an opportunity for NATO nations and partners to exchange experience, ideas, thoughts in a forum developed for open dialogue and discussion, the activity being, also, a chance to present and promote the educational offer.
22 – 27 May 2022 – Participation in NATO workshop for individual training and education development (NTG IT&ED), Sarajevo
The representatives from Romania participated in NATO workshop for individual training and education development (NTG IT&ED), Sarajevo from May 22nd to May 27th, 2022.
The Group’s goal was to improve the professionalism, interoperability and standardization between Alliance forces and partners through improved coordination of education, training, exercises and evaluation of acquired knowledge.
23 - 25 SEPTEMBER 2019 - DEEP IRAQ - VISIT OF THE WAR COLLEGE FROM REPUBLIC OF IRAQ
The visit paid to “Carol I” National Defence University by the dean and instructors of the War College, was a great opportunity for both sides to exchange opinions regarding
the training and education, presenting the Romanian education system and enhanced the cooperation between Romania and Iraq through the NATO Programme of Defence Education Enhancement.
CMMOD was honored to organize the visit in Bucharest and Brasov at DRESMARA.
The number of Iraq students that graduated from CMMOD represent the interest of Iraq in the courses provided by CMMOD and a way ahead to collaboration.
16 - 19 APRIL 2019 - VISIT OF THE REPRESENTATIVES FROM MMA (MOLDOVAN MILITARY ACADEMY)
CMMOD had the visit of the representatives from MMA (Moldovan Military Academy).
The reference was Bi - SC Education and Individual Training Directive (E&ITD) 075 - 007, which is the base for the accreditation process.
The activities and documents undertaken by CMMOD in the process of accreditation were exposed and explained for the sake of a better understanding of the importance of having
the courses NATO approved. The objectives established were fulfilled and the representatives from MMA got informed on the intricacy of the accreditation process
and on the availability of CMMOD in helping the Moldovan Military Academy to have NATO approved courses and an educational process characterized by quality.
03-05 OCTOBER 2018 - ACT QUALITY ASSURANCE TEAM OF EXPERTS (QA ToE)
Part of the accreditation process ACT QA ToE held the On-site visit in the CMMOD PTEC. All NATO standars on training delivering were analyzed.
Deputy SACT visiting the National Defence University, Admiral Manfred Nielson honored the openning session of the activity.
15-17 MAY SLOVAK ARMED FORCES ACADEMY VISIT UNDER ERASMUS+PROGRAMME
COL Tomas NOVOTNY and LTC Joszef WESSÉLENYI, members of SAFA were exchanging views and compared ways of working and cooperation through PTECs embeded in high education institutes
16 -19 OCTOBER 2017, COLONEL EDUARD ALEXANDRU VITALIS AND COLONEL MARIAN IONESCU WERE UNDER ERASMUS+ PROGEAMME
to Armed Forces Academy “General Milan Rastislav Štefánik” from Liptovský Mikuláš, Slovakia.
The activity was an important step in consolidation of bilateral relation with this prestigious education institution and National Defence University “Carol I”.
Particularly, our PTEC members met the Slovakian counterparts and discussed ways of teaching, training and rebuilding some courses following the requirements of NATO Quality Assurance Standards.
20th ANNIVERSARY OF THE CRISIS MANAGEMENT AND MULTINATIONAL DEPARTMENT

On 28 September 2017, the Crisis Management and Multinational Operations Department - the succesor of the Romania-United Kingdom Regional Training Centre, celebrated its 20th anniversary. At the celebration participated General (r) Constantin DEGERATU, the former chief of the General Staff back in 1997, who had a critical role in setting the centre. Former commandants and a large number of ”family” members reunited to recall the first years of existence as institution.
What at origins was known as Romania-United Kingdom Regional Training Centre (1997) has later become, as a result of successive transformations, what today is the Crisis Management and Multinational Operations Department, a functional structure within the National Defence University “Carol I” and one of the oldest members of the Partnership Training and Education Centres community.
2 - 5 MAY 2017, INSTRUCTORS OF THE INTERNATIONAL STAFF OFFICERS CORSE (ISOC)
Slovak Armed Forces Academy contributed to the Brigade Staff Officer Course (BSOC) organised by CMMOD
From 2 to 5 of May 2017, a team of 3 instructors of the International Staff Officer Course (ISOC)/Slovak Armed Forces Academy has contributed to the Brigade Staff Officer Course (BSOC) organised by CMMOD, as part of an instructor exchange programme held under ERASMUS+ initiative.
ISOC and BSOC have not only common roots but follows similar transformation routes. Both courses have been established in the late 90s and early 2000s, with support from the British Army to prepare staff officers at the tactical level in the NATO compatible approach toward operations of war. At the same time, both courses undertake similar routes to transforming into modern, new formats, adapted to the current security environment and demands of national and multinational authorities.
17th MARCH 2017, STABILITY SECURITY TRANSITION AND RECONSTRUCTION OPERATIONS COURSE

On 17 of March 2017 at CMMOD PTEC, students from four countries graduated the Stability Security Transition and Reconstruction Operations Course.

15th FEBRUARY 2017, CRISIS MANAGEMENT COURSE
Lecture of Mr. Raed Arafat, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Head of Department for Emergency Situations
At the invitation of the Commandant of the National Defence University "Carol I”, on 15th of February 2017, Mr. Raed Arafat, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Head of Department for Emergency Situations lectured on "The Role of the Department for Emergency Situations in managing emergency situations” as a session of the Crisis Management Course, organised by the Crisis Management and Multinational Operations Department.
The event brought together, in the Aula Magna, teachers, researchers, and students from other various programs of the National Defence University "Carol I" who actively engaged the distinguished guest speaker during his real-life-oriented presentation.
In his intervention, Mr. Raed Arafat reiterated excellent cooperation between Department for Emergency Situations and General Staff or with other military structures operating in tackling various emergency situations.
13th FEBRUARY 2017, CRISIS MANAGEMENT COURSE
Lecture of Mr. Eduardo Yrezabal, the Representative in Romania of the UNHCR
At the invitation of the Commandant of the National Defence University "Carol I”, on 13th of February 2017, Mr. Eduardo Yrezabal, the Representative in Romania of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) lectured on "The Role of UNHCR in Crisis Management” as a session of the Crisis Management Course, organised by the Crisis Management and Multinational Operations Department.
The event brought together, in the Aula Magna, teachers, researchers, and students from other various programs of the National Defence University "Carol I".
In his intervention, Mr. Eduardo Yrezabal highlighted the magnitude of the current worldwide refugee crisis and emphasised on the change in approaching the management of refugees as a result of the increasing importance of the international community’s development and investment programs in the receiving countries.
